Solid morning gains (time to buy dips)

Published: Wed, 05/04/16

Morning all,

After a short battle between longs and shorts & profit takers, the buyers finally prevailed in SPYR as it surged from the day's low of $0.36 all the way up to $0.46.

Realistic trading gains I can see based on time & sales is around 20-22%, if you bought at $0.36-0.37 and sold at $0.43-0.44.

SPYR has a small float, thin L2 and a lot of buzz flying around the investing community based on their latest project. You should definitely to keep watching for dip opportunities as this could be an extremely lucrative longer term trade.

I just spotted this commentary that came across the wires this morning, which gives a very bullish take on SPYR, check it out...

SPYR, Inc.'s Anticipated Revenue Projections Could Offer Significant Shareholder Value

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwired - May 04, 2016) - SPYR, Inc. (SPYR) signed a deal earlier this year with Spectacle Games to assume the publication and marketing of its free-to-play Massively Multiplayer Online Game (MMO), Pocket Starships (www.pocketstarships.com). At the time, it wasn't completely clear how this news would factor into the company's future, but this week SPYR explained more about the opportunity that Pocket Starships offers the company, and its potential for significant and sustained revenue growth. So, while at first this announcement may have seemed to be just another publishing deal for a small app development and publishing company, a closer look at this week's news shows it may be the very thing that significantly propels SPYR's bottom line well into the future.

In this week's news release, SPYR used the example of the revenue generated by World of Tanks, another successful MMO game that the principals at Spectacle Games worked on and helped bring to market. According to industry sources, World of Tanks has generated more than $1.3 billion over the last three years alone, and SPYR plans to use the same formula for Pocket Starships that was used with World of Tanks and a number of other successful games, with the goal of driving impressive revenue that could reach well into the hundreds of millions of dollars each year.

The relationship between SPYR and Spectacle Games should be exactly what can make this MMO game a success for SPYR and its shareholders. After all, Pocket Starships, being a cross-platform game, already has a significant number of players on the web and on mobile devices. This partnership will allow Spectacle Games (the developer) to focus solely on the crucial content updates and improvements to the game that will help keep current users engaged, while SPYR (the publisher) manages the marketing and the acquisition of new users for Pocket Starships. It is this crucial balance that is necessary for a game to see long-term success.

SPYR's Chief Executive Officer, James R. Thompson, said that the revenue generated by Pocket Starships will be driven by "in-app purchases," so increasing the user base is naturally key to driving more of those in-app purchases. Thompson doesn't discount current users either as he stated that constantly upgrading the game with new content and new features is not only a great way for the game to stay fresh and exciting, but it also creates new opportunities for existing players to spend money in the game.

With Pocket Starships being a cross-platform MMO game, it has an advantage over many other games because users can access the game on any device. Whether it's on an android or iOS mobile phone, an iPad, Kindle, Amazon or android based tablet, a laptop computer or even a desktop, gamers can play Pocket Starships and "in real-time" with thousands of other players from all over the world. This makes it easier for current users to attract their friends to the game, and it's a great marketing feature for SPYR to use when spending marketing dollars to bring new users into the game, and expose them to the game's in-app purchase options.

There should be some real anticipation for SPYR's announced revenue projections in the coming months. The numbers, combined with SPYR's low float share structure, could provide a real glimpse into how lucrative the gaming industry is, and why SPYR chose this new business model in 2015 in the first place. Spectacle Games and its Chief Executive Officer, Lars Koschin, will compile the upcoming projections for sustained revenue growth for Pocket Starships, and given the partnership between the two companies, SPYR's plan moving forward and the knowledge that these games can produce great amounts of revenue, SPYR's investors could see some real anticipation begin to grow ahead of the release of those projections.

Koschin, who is also an advisor to SPYR, has a great deal of experience in the industry running successful MMOs that have made tens and hundreds of millions of dollars worldwide with Gamigo, Frogster, Wargaming (World of Tanks) and other large companies. Koschin clearly knows what it takes for a game to be successful, and he knows projections are crucial to the business of app development and publishing, so his numbers should offer great insight into the future of SPYR and its place in the mobile game and app development & publishing industry.

All the best.

Today SPYR released this news...

SPYR's Pocket Starships Game Provides Opportunity For Significant Sustained Revenue Growth

DENVER, May 3, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- SPYR, INC. (SPYR), a holding company with wholly owned subsidiaries in the mobile game, app development & publishing industry, and in the restaurant industry today explained its previously announced deal to publish Pocket Starships, a Massively Multiplayer Online (MMO) game (www.pocketstarships.com) through its subsidiary SPYR APPS, LLC.

On January 21, 2016, SPYR announced its deal with Spectacle Games to publish Pocket Starships, a free-to-play cross-platform (PC and Mobile) MMO game where players can build and pilot numerous starships in real-time space battles, recruit players and form strong alliances, and battle with and against thousands of other players worldwide on a quest for galactic domination. (http://ir.spyr.com/press-releases/detail/119/spyr-signs-deal-to-publish-and-market-popular-pocket)

Since the beginning of the year, Spectacle has been developing updates for the game and the SPYR team has been working on its marketing plan, both of which will be implemented soon.  The combination of those efforts is expected to result in significantly increased revenue and user growth.

MMOs like Pocket Starships are popular online games, in part, because they allow players from all over the world to join together and compete with each other in real time and on a large scale.  Moreover, MMOs are games that generate some of the largest user bases and highest average revenue per user in the digital games industry (http://www.gamesindustry.biz/articles/2014-04-10-world-of-tanks-leads-the-way-in-average-revenue-per-user) (http://www.gamesindustry.biz/articles/2014-01-20-league-of-legends-2013-revenue-topped-USD600m-report).

What Pocket Starships has that other MMOs do not, however, is a combination of real-time and cross-platform play, meaning that players of Pocket Starships are playing with each other in real time on both mobile and web-based hardware (smartphones, tablets, PCs and Macs) and platforms (iOS, Android, Kindle, Windows).

Paul Thind, SPYR's Managing Director of Mobile Games and Applications commented:  "We are not aware of any other game that can be played in real time on mobile phones and tablets and on desktop and laptop computers.  This unique aspect of Pocket Starships will allow us to market the game to a much larger audience than most, and it will allow for lower user acquisition costs because it costs less to acquire a PC or Mac web-based player than it does to acquire a mobile user.  Also, because MMO titles are typically developed for non-mobile platforms, Pocket Starships affords SPYR the unique opportunity to bring MMO gaming concepts to the mobile world."

SPYR's teaming with Spectacle Games as the developer is a significant accomplishment for SPYR APPS.  The principals of Spectacle Games are electronic game industry veterans that have worked on some of the most successful MMO games in the past few years, such as World of Tanks (2015 revenue = $446M; 2014 revenue = approx. $400M; 2013 revenue = $475M).  SPYR's Paul Thind is using the same formula that brought about these impressive user base and revenue numbers for others with SPYR APPS in its plan for Pocket Starships.

With full funding allocated for the plan, the Company anticipates releasing revenue projections for SPYR compiled by Spectacle Games, which will set forth Pocket Starships' potential revenue and profitability, by the end of the third quarter.

SPYR APPS and Spectacle Games anticipate that a small content patch for Pocket Starships will be launched sometime in May and the first new large content patch for Pocket Starships will be launched in August, with additional content updates currently scheduled to be developed and released every 3-4 months.  Typically, with games of this genre, content updates translate to an increase in game revenue.

Get SPYR on your screen now and do your research before tomorrow. SPYR is a very thin low float play that we think has the potential to deliver high double digit gains with ease.

I'll touch base in the morning with an update.
